Providence, RI Bertram Yaffe, President of the Erna Yaffe Foundation and Chair of NECON, spoke at the 2001 New England Governors'
Conference in Providence, Rhode Island. In a brief update on the coalition's recent activities, NECON presented New England Governors with a copy of reports released by the United Health Group and the
American Public Health Association regarding the progress of New England healthcare, and also provided New England Governors with NECON's future recommendations for improving the health of the people of New
England. The NECON Task Force on Mental Health Promotion, Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Prevention presented their report, "Prevention: The Time Is Now."
